Minimum and Maximum Fitra Amount Set for 1446 Hijri
This year (2025), the minimum Fitra amount in Bangladesh for Ramadan has been set at 110 BDT per person, while the maximum is 2,805 BDT. The rate for the year 1446 Hijri was determined during a meeting held on Tuesday at the conference hall of the Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka.
Decrease in Fitra Amount Compared to Last Year
Compared to last year, the Fitra amount has decreased. In 1445 Hijri, the minimum Fitra was 115 BDT, and the maximum was 2,970 BDT. This adjustment reflects changes in the price of staple food items, which are used as the basis for determining Fitra rates.
Meeting Led by Islamic Scholars
The meeting was presided over by Mufti Maulana Abdul Malek, the Chairman of the Sadaqatul Fitr Determination Committee and the Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. Several committee members and prominent Islamic scholars were also present at the meeting to finalize the Fitra amount.
Official Announcement to the Media
Following the discussion, the committee chairman officially announced the fixed Fitra rates to the media. The decision aims to provide guidance to Muslims in Bangladesh on fulfilling their religious obligation of Sadaqatul Fitr, which is essential for helping the needy during Ramadan.
Importance of Fitra in Islam
Sadaqatul Fitr, also known as Zakat al-Fitr, is a mandatory charity given by Muslims before the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer. It ensures that the less fortunate can also celebrate Eid with dignity and happiness. The amount of Fitra is typically based on staple food items like wheat, barley, dates, and raisins, which align with Islamic teachings.
Conclusion
With the Fitra rates set for Ramadan 2025, Muslims in Bangladesh are encouraged to pay their Fitra before the Eid prayer. This small but significant act of charity serves to purify one's fast and support those in need, reinforcing the spirit of generosity and unity in the holy month of Ramadan.
